Fathers and mothers both have a crucial role to play in a child’s life. Though, the mother bears the child in her womb for nine months, it is equally the responsibility of the father to look after the child since inception. For a child to blossom into a fully developed individual, both the parents’ love and affection is needed and fatherhood and motherhood ought to be given equal importance because one cannot go without the other.

With the developing society, the views regarding the upbringing of a child have also undergone a change. Now, not only the mothers, but the fathers alongside are simultaneously working around the clock to be the bread winners for the family and fulfilling the basic daily household chores. Both of them have a mutual understanding to give their child proper care, concern and their time which in my perspective is the best thing to do. If a mother teaches her child how to be a good human being with compassion and tenderness, then a father is there to teach the child the same thing in a different manner, so that is how a child will grow and learn through both the parents’ mutual efforts.

If a child does not have a healthy parental support, then he/she can face an emotional void which in the later stages of life might affect the child psychologically. It is rightly said that ‘a child is the reflection of his/her parents’. Just like a small plant, if watered properly and timely grows into a lush green tree with the passing time, similarly if a child is nourished and taught all the good values and behaviour since childhood, the child will blossom into a mature and good individual.

To recapitulate, both the parents are responsible for the sound upbringing of their child physically, emotionally and psychology. Each bond that the child shares with the mother and the father is unique in its own way and thus, a mutual understanding should co-exist between the parents.
