Prevention is better than cure. Out of a country's health budget, a large proportion should be diverted from treatment to spending on health education and preventative measures

A healthy individual is a boon to the nation in every aspect. Health and education are two important aspects that the Government should focus on if the world has to be made a better place to live in. Government does allocate a good proportion of money on the health budget but more importantly what it should do is invest the same monetary resources on health education and the concerned preventative measures.

The government should start off with diverting its resources towards how the importance of a healthy lifestyle can prevent all the diseases that one has to face in life. The sooner the government does this, the better it will be for one and all. It should start educating masses specially in the rural areas about how personal hygiene should be maintained. The government can let the general public know through investing in various programmes, road shows and demonstrations directed towards imparting knowledge regarding how regular exercise, brisk walking, yoga and other physical activities can keep one’s body fit and fine.

This will consequently help in preventing any malicious disease in the first place. It is rightly said that ‘a healthy mind dwells in a healthy body’ and this is what the government should focus on spreading to the entire populace of our nation through effective allocation of its money.

The importance of effective advertisements showing how the consumption of certain products can cause various life threatening diseases should be on the priority list of the Government. The government bodies should allocate a good proportion of the health budget on making of such valuable dvertisements which will give out a huge and important message to a massive population at one go. For instance, an advertisement can be made to demonstrate how smoking can cause cancer and cause a dire threat to human life or how when water is allowed to stay stagnant at one place in unhygienic conditions, it can lead to breeding of mosquitoes resulting in diseases like dengue which have high treatment costs. To reiterate, the Government should distribute its monetary resources very efficiently towards the health education programmes and other preventative measures rather than investing a lumpsum amount of money in curing of the major diseases or various maladies
