Writing Task 1:
Question: The graph below shows the number of magazines sold in 5 different countries in 2005 and 2015. A prediction for 2025 is also given. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main points and make comparisons where relevant.
The French were the most avid magazine readers and are projected to remain so till 2025. 40,000 magazines were sold in France in 2005, but this figure dropped to approximately 37,500 by 2015 and is predicted to decline further by 2025, reaching 35,000. The number of magazines sold in the UK was less than those sold in France, but the trend was identical. 22,000 magazines were sold in the UK in 2005, however, by 2025, the number is anticipated to decrease to 18,000.
The lowest number of magazines (5,000) were sold in Spain in 2005, and after a slight rise in 2015, the number is again forecasted to reach 5,000 by 2025. In the US, the second highest number of magazines was sold in 2005, but again the number is expected to fall to 25,000 by 2025. The most significant prediction is for Italy. The number of magazines sold was 15,000 in 2005, and 20,000 in 2015, but are predicted to decline to 1,000 by 2025.
Overall, French magazines were sold the most, while the Spanish magazines were sold the least, and this trend is anticipated
Writing Task 2:
Question:
It is better for people to be unemployed than people to be employed but they do not enjoy. Do you agree or disagree?
Finding a job is a major challenge facing many people around the world today. There is a significant debate over whether it is better for people to be unemployed than employed but not enjoy the job they have. From my perspective, I disagree with this statement, as I believe there are more negative consequences associated with being unemployed than being employed but not enjoying one’s job.
The primary disadvantage of being unemployed is the financial insecurity that comes with it. Most people rely on a steady income to pay for basic necessities, such as food, shelter, and clothing. Without it, individuals are unable to provide for themselves, let alone their families. This could lead to an increase in poverty, as well as a number of other social problems, such as homelessness and crime. Furthermore, being unemployed can also have a negative effect on one’s mental health, as it can lead to feelings of hopelessness and depression.
On the other hand, while being employed but not enjoying one’s job can be a difficult experience, it is often preferable to being unemployed. For one, it provides individuals with a steady source of income, which can be used to cover basic necessities and other expenses. Furthermore, it also provides individuals with a sense of purpose and accomplishment, which can help to improve their mental and emotional well-being.
In conclusion, while being employed but not enjoying one’s job can be an unpleasant experience, it is undoubtedly preferable to being unemployed. Not only does it provide individuals with a sense of financial security, but it can also be beneficial for their mental health. For these reasons, I believe it is better for people to be employed than unemployed.

Writing Task 2:
Question: Nowadays, some people believe that fashion is too important for young people and it has a negative impact on people and society. Do you agree or disagree?
Fashion plays a significant role in the daily life of many people, particularly young adults. It is often argued that fashion is too important for young people and has a negative impact on individuals and society. While I agree that fashion can have some detrimental effects, I believe that it should not be dismissed as a whole.
Firstly, it is true that fashion can lead to negative outcomes. For example, people can become preoccupied with their physical appearance, which can lead to mental health issues such as low self-esteem and body dysmorphia. Furthermore, some fashion trends can be expensive, leading to financial problems. Additionally, it is also possible that fashion trends can lead to peer pressure, as individuals may feel the need to fit in with their peers by conforming to certain styles.
Despite these drawbacks, fashion can also have positive effects. It can be a form of self-expression and can be used to show the world who a person is and what they believe in. In addition, fashion can provide an opportunity for individuals to explore their identity and find out who they are. Moreover, it can be used as a tool for positive change. For instance, many fashion brands are now producing more ethical and sustainable clothing, which can help to reduce the negative impacts of the fashion industry.
In conclusion, fashion can have both positive and negative impacts on people and society. While it is important to be aware of the potential risks associated with fashion, they should not be disregarded completely. Instead, fashion should be seen as an opportunity to express ourselves and make the world a better place.
